If you run a salt pool, this page doesn’t narrow the field
The heat exchanger is the part your pool water actually touches, and titanium is the material that shrugs off chloride — which is why it’s the spec salt owners are told to look for. All three of these units use one, and each maker says so in its own words: FibroPool’s listing promises a “corrosion resistant titanium heat exchanger [that] supports long term use in saltwater and chemically treated pools,” TURBRO says its unit “is equipped with a titanium heat exchanger, which is corrosion-resistant,” and Aquastrong’s owner manual simply lists Heating Exchanger: Titanium in the spec table.
So titanium isn’t a tiebreaker here — it’s the price of entry, and that’s the useful part: being on salt doesn’t rule out anything on this page. Buy on warranty, owner base and the size that matches your pool, exactly as you would on a chlorine pool.
Where the material genuinely does decide things is gas heaters, whose exchangers run copper, cupro-nickel or NiTek depending on the model — and on a salt pool that difference is real money. Average depth = (shallow end + deep end) ÷ 2 — about 4–5 ft for a typical pool. Uses the standard pool-volume factors (rectangle ×7.5, oval ×6.7, round ×5.9 gallons per square-foot-foot). For a round pool, enter the diameter.
⚠ A heat pump can't heat below ~50°F. In a cool or Northern climate its efficiency drops (we've derated its COP here), and it simply stops working on the coldest shoulder days — so you'd still want a gas heater for the early-spring and late-fall weeks a heat pump can't reach. Most calculators ignore this and quote a too-rosy heat-pump number.

Model: annual heat demand ≈ pool mass × an effective daily reheat set by your climate × your season length, then divided by each system's efficiency. How to choose
Read the gallons, not the BTU. This is the trap in the large-AG tier: every pick here is 50–55K BTU, but they’re rated to wildly different pool sizes — the fixed-speed FibroPool says 10,000 gallons for its 55K, while the inverter units claim 16,000 from the same BTU. That’s conservative legacy rating vs optimistic inverter marketing. Get your real gallons from the free pool-volume calculator, then trust the conservative figure and size up if you’re near the top of a unit’s range.
Decide the 240V question first. There’s no way around it at this size — every 50K+ BTU unit is 240V hardwired. If your pad isn’t already wired for 240V, factor an electrician (usually a couple hundred dollars) into the real cost. It’s still far cheaper than the dealer install a branded in-ground unit demands.
Buy the one that’s backed — and know what “backed” means online. Most of this tier is the same few Chinese OEMs rebadged, so what separates them is the warranty and a deep owner base. Want cooling too? Buy reversible up front. A full inverter that heats and cools costs about the same as heat-only, and in Florida a big pool can run into the 90s in July.
