The rule almost nobody states

For a lot of outdoor gear the multi-year warranty is attached to the channel, not the product. The unit in the box is the same one a dealer sells; the coverage is payment for the dealer relationship. Jandy's coverage “does not apply to… products purchased through the Internet.” Pentair drops online purchases to “one (1) year (parts only)” — including from its own authorized online resellers. Hayward's “W3” prefix on an Amazon listing is not a model variant, it is the online warranty tier.

That is not a reason to avoid buying online. It is a reason to price it honestly.6 of the 72 makers below put channel language in their own document, and every quote here is theirs, not ours.

Makers that publish no warranty document at all

These 133 brands sell only through Amazon and publish no warranty document anywhere we can find. That is worth knowing before you buy: there is no term to hold them to beyond the listing itself and the marketplace's own returns window. It is a finding, not a gap in our research — nobody can check what does not exist.
