How to read a Showdown Score™
The only score that counts how often a product breaks, not just how owners feel about it.
- Three parts add up to the score: what owners rate it, how often it fails them, and whether a credentialed tester backed it.
- Bands: Exceptional 8.5 and up, Excellent 7.5, Very good 6.5, Good 5.5, Fair 4, Poor below 4. Every score is dated.
- Price, the warranty and what a link pays us stay out of it.
Search for a Thanksgiving pool float and you get six-foot yard turkeys, turkey-leg props and rubber ducks in pilgrim hats. We went looking for the real thing in November 2026: eight Amazon searches, Home Depot and Walmart, and the catalogues of eight float makers, Swimline, FUNBOY, Sunnylife, BigMouth, Jasonwell, GoFloats, Aqua Leisure and Poolmaster. We found no Thanksgiving pool float with an owner record. (Bestway’s store did not answer on the day, and SwimWays and Intex publish no catalogue we can search.) The two turkey floats that had shown up on Amazon returned empty listing pages; Swimline’s cherry pie slice float is gone from Swimline’s own catalogue, from an Amazon search for it by name, and from the one pool shop that listed it.
So this page answers the question people actually have, which is what to put in the pool on Thanksgiving weekend. One thing to ride, in the season’s colours. Two things that float and look like dinner. And one thing to keep away from your skimmer.
The short version:
🧡 Best overall: FUNBOY Vintage Stripe 46” Tube Float, Orange — the one product here sold as a pool float, rated for one adult up to 220 lb, in FUNBOY’s burnt orange (mocha brown on the same listing). 4.6★ across 426 ratings, $29. The catch: it is an orange tube, not a turkey.
🦃 Best turkey: Accoutrements Inflatable Turkey (Archie McPhee) — a 16-inch vinyl roast turkey, the only pool-sized whole turkey we found with a real owner record. 4.4★ across 870 ratings, $14. Archie McPhee sells it for the table, not the pool.
🍗 Cheapest: Beistle Inflatable Turkey Leg (2 ft) — a drumstick for $7, sold and shipped by Amazon. 4.5★ across 439 ratings.
⛔ The skip: 4E’s Novelty Thanksgiving Rubber Ducks — twelve 2.5-inch ducks, which is skimmer size, on a rating shared with 4E’s other holiday ducks.

Read the Pool use column first. Only the FUNBOY tube is sold for the pool. The turkey, the drumstick and the ducks are party props and table décor that happen to float, and their makers say so. Then read the rating basis. The FUNBOY rating covers six colours of the same tube, and the duck rating covers 4E’s Halloween, Christmas and all-year packs as well as this one.
We found no test of any of these. None of the outlets we searched tested the orange tube, the turkey, the drumstick or the ducks. The nearest is WIRED’s Kat Merck, who kept the navy version of the same FUNBOY tube in her pool for a month (below). What we can give you is each listing read signed in, its critical reviews, and what each maker will put in writing.
Check the water before the float
Thanksgiving is late in the pool year. Pool companies in Tampa Bay and Orlando put an unheated pool at about 65 to 72 degrees at Thanksgiving, and one in southwest Florida says the low to upper 70s; those are their estimates for the region, not measurements, and a pool further north will be colder. The National Weather Service is blunt about what cold water does: “When your body hits cold water, ‘Cold Shock’ can cause dramatic changes in breathing, heart rate and blood pressure. The sudden gasp and rapid breathing alone creates a greater risk of drowning, even for confident swimmers in calm waters.” It adds that the gasp “can be triggered by water as warm as 77°F (25°C),” and it names pools.
So: if the pool is unheated, the floats on this page are mostly for looking at. If it is heated, get in slowly anyway, and keep an eye on anyone small. And none of this is a safety device. The CDC says it in one line: “Do not rely on air-filled or foam toys, as these are not safety devices.”
To ride
Best overall: FUNBOY Vintage Stripe 46” Tube Float, Orange
A 46-inch striped inner tube with a cup holder, rated for one adult up to 220 lb, in the colour FUNBOY’s own store calls burnt orange (model TUBE-LFE-26-O). It wins because it is the only product here that is actually a pool float, it has a deep owner record, and it comes in the two colours that read as Thanksgiving from across the yard: burnt orange and, on the same listing, mocha brown. FUNBOY sells the same model on its own store at the same price.
The one hands-on test we found is of the navy version of the same tube. WIRED’s Kat Merck: “I’ve had the rings in my pool for over a month now, in direct sun, and while I wish they had handles for easier on-and-off movement, they have held up great.” She also found the cup holder “very small and very shallow.”
Not for you if you wanted a turkey. It is an orange tube. And the critical reviews are about air: “It came with a hole in it. We had to patch it in order to use it,” “Popped 1st day of use,” and the one that matters most in November, “Inflate ASAP or you’ll be out of luck like me” — from an owner who found the leak on the day of the event. We read all 30 of its one-to-three-star reviews: 13 name pink, 13 navy, 3 baby blue, one mocha (a two-star about the price), and none orange; the orange colour’s own 22 reviews are all four and five stars, which is a short record, not a clean bill. Two owners say the valve needs a pump with the right nozzle. The rating is shared across six colours of the tube, and FUNBOY’s 15-day warranty is written for orders on funboy.com; on Amazon, the return window is your protection. And check the seller line before you pay: at our read Amazon’s default buy box was a used tube from Amazon Resale; the new one, sold by Amazon, was $29.

A 46-inch striped inner tube with a cup holder in FUNBOY's burnt orange, rated for one adult up to 220 lb. We found no Thanksgiving pool float with an owner record; this is a real pool float in the season's colours.

FUNBOY Vintage Stripe 46" Tube Float, Orange
A real pool float in Thanksgiving colours
Your pick if you want to actually ride something in the pool over Thanksgiving weekend — a 220 lb adult tube at 4.6★ across 426, in burnt orange or mocha brown.
- The only product here sold as a pool float, with a stated 220 lb capacity
- Shipped by Amazon, with a repair patch in the box
- Comes in burnt orange and mocha brown, both on the same listing
- FUNBOY still sells the same model, TUBE-LFE-26-O, on its own store
- It is an orange tube, not a turkey: nobody makes a Thanksgiving-shaped float with an owner record
- Owners of the pink, navy and baby-blue tubes report holes out of the box and tubes that lose air within days
- The 426 ratings belong to six colours of the tube; the orange's own 22 reviews are all four and five stars
- The valve takes a pump with the right nozzle, owners say; a standard hand pump may not fit
- At our read the default buy box was a used tube from Amazon Resale; choose the New offer, sold by Amazon
Air loss: a hole on arrival, a pop on the first day, or a tube that needs topping up within days. Pink stripes fading is the second complaint. No critical review names the orange colour, and the one mocha review is a two-star about the price.

Floating décor
These are party props. They float, and they look like dinner, which is the whole point, but neither maker sells them for the pool: Archie McPhee sells its turkey as a table centrepiece and Beistle sells its drumstick as a party decoration. Float them when nobody is swimming, take them out before anyone gets in, and inflate them the day they arrive.
Best turkey: Accoutrements Inflatable Turkey (Archie McPhee)
A 16-inch vinyl roast turkey that comes flat in a small tin. Archie McPhee, the Washington novelty company that sells it under its Accoutrements label, describes it as “the perfect Thanksgiving centerpiece” and adds: “We use them around the office for cubicle turkey volleyball.” It is the only pool-sized whole turkey we found with a real owner record, and McPhee still sells the same item, no. 11940, on its own store. 4.4★ across 870 ratings, $14.
Not for you if you want the maker behind it in the pool. McPhee never mentions water. Or if you want it to fool anyone. Read all 59 of its one-to-three-star reviews and two complaints run level. It does not look like the photo — “a ghastly looking orange blob,” “Looked like a roasted brown cockroach” — and it leaks, often out of the package: “Air leak fresh out of the package.” Recent buyers add that the pictured tin now arrives as a flat cardboard box. From across a pool, orange is fine. On Amazon it is sold by a third-party seller and the listing’s warranty line reads “No Warranty”; bought from McPhee, unopened items go back within 30 days, and “Damaged or defective items may also be returned for exchange.”

Very good is 6.5 to 7.4.
See why it scored 6.5
Your pick if you want an actual turkey bobbing in the pool on Thanksgiving Day — 4.4★ across 870, a gag the maker sells for the table.
- The only pool-sized whole turkey we found with hundreds of owner ratings
- Archie McPhee still sells the same item, no. 11940, on its own store
- Small and cheap enough to float several
- Owners who use it as a gag mostly say it gets the laugh
- Sold as a table centrepiece and gag; Archie McPhee never says it belongs in a pool
- Owners say it looks orange and plainly fake up close, not like the photo
- Owners report holes and seam leaks, some on arrival
- Recent buyers say it now comes in a flat cardboard box, not the pictured tin
- Sold by a third-party seller on Amazon, and several owners say they could not return it
It does not look like the photo: owners call it an orange blob that reads as fake up close. Holes and seam leaks, some out of the package, are the second complaint, and recent buyers say the tin is now a cardboard box.

Cheapest: Beistle Inflatable Turkey Leg (2 ft)
A 24-inch inflatable drumstick for about seven dollars, sold and shipped by Amazon, from a party-goods company that has been in business since 1900 and still lists it on its own site, below Beistle’s own suggested retail price. Three cost less than the FUNBOY tube. 4.5★ across 439 ratings.
Not for you if it has to stay up all weekend. Sixteen of its 20 one-to-three-star reviews are air: “Did not hold air for even 5 minutes,” “Delivered with 4 holes punched,” “only after a few hours did it start to deflate.” At this price, buy two and inflate both the day they arrive. One owner says Amazon sent them to Beistle for a replacement rather than replacing it; Beistle’s terms accept returns for a defect with prior authorisation, ask for damage claims within 10 days of receipt, and state no warranty term.
Beistle Inflatable Turkey Leg (2 ft)
A drumstick for the price of a coffeeVery good
Very good is 6.5 to 7.4.
See why it scored 6.9
Too close to call with the Accoutrements Inflatable Turkey (Archie McPhee), which scores 6.5. It holds "Cheapest" because it edges ahead on the evidence, by less than our margin of error.
Your pick if you want a few cheap drumsticks floating in the pool and a return that goes straight back to Amazon — 4.5★ across 439 for about seven dollars.
- Sold and shipped by Amazon
- About seven dollars, so several cost less than one float
- From a maker that still lists the item, no. 90017
- A party prop, not a float; Beistle does not mention pool use
- Owners report holes and slow leaks, with some legs going soft within hours
- One owner says Amazon sent them to Beistle for a replacement instead of replacing it
It will not hold air: holes out of the package, a leak near the valve, or a slow sag within hours.

Skip: 4E’s Novelty Thanksgiving Rubber Ducks (12-Pack)
Twelve rubber ducks dressed as turkeys and pilgrims, sold for the table, party bags and bath time. The listing gives them as about 2.5 inches each and marks them for indoor use. In a pool with a skimmer, 2.5 inches is not décor, it is a delivery: a skimmer exists to pull small floating things off the surface. And the rating is not really this pack’s. The listing shares one score with 4E’s Halloween, Christmas and all-year duck packs. Their 28 one-to-three-star reviews add the rest: short counts (“I ordered the 12 pack and only 9 showed up”), ducks that “were top heavy, and mostly floated upside dow[n]”, a Thanksgiving pack that measured “approximately 1 1/2 inches,” and “Don’t use in water. It never comes out.” Most of those reviews are of the other holidays’ packs, but the Thanksgiving buyers say the same things.
Their Showdown Score is the highest on this page, and that is the pooled 4.7-star rating talking: it is shared with 4E’s other holiday packs, and it says nothing about skimmers. They are a fine buy for the Thanksgiving table or a hot tub without a skimmer. In the pool, close the skimmer first.
4E's Novelty Thanksgiving Rubber Ducks (12-Pack)
Skimmer snacks in pilgrim hatsExcellent
Excellent is 7.5 to 8.4.
See why it scored 8.1
Your pick if the ducks are for the Thanksgiving table, a hot tub with no skimmer, or the bath — 4.7★ across 888, a rating shared with 4E's other holiday duck packs.
- Twelve ducks in six turkey and pilgrim designs
- The listing and the maker's own store sell the same pack
- Fine on a table or in party bags, which is what the listing sells them for
- At about 2.5 inches each, small enough for a pool skimmer to take
- Owners across the holiday packs say many ducks float on their side or upside down
- Owners report short packs: fewer ducks in the bag than the label
- One Thanksgiving buyer measured them at about 1.5 inches, not 2.5
- The rating is shared with 4E's Halloween, Christmas and all-year duck packs
Short counts, ducks that float on their side or upside down, and ducks smaller than listed. One owner warns water gets inside and never comes out.

Pumpkins still count
Pumpkins are as much Thanksgiving as Halloween, and the floating pumpkins on our Halloween pool floats page work just as well in late November. FUNBOY’s light-up pumpkins there are the one floating décor whose maker says in writing that it can go in the pool.
What we read and did not card
- Hill & Amber “Turkey Turkey” 47 in ring and the sanbonepd turkey float. The two turkey floats that had appeared on Amazon. Both listing pages came back empty (Hill & Amber’s on two reads, sanbonepd’s on one), and neither appears in any of our searches.
- Wettarn 24 in turkey legs (2-pack). 4.4 stars from 81 ratings, shared with the 4-pack. The same size as the Beistle drumstick, sold by a third-party seller, with a larger share of two-star ratings; the Beistle is sold and shipped by Amazon.
- FUNBOY’s 46 in cherry tube. Same tube, a red-and-cream cherry print. A summer float.
- The Knitgrip turkey swim ring. A ring for a 12 ft skeleton yard prop, not for people, at 2.5 stars from 28 ratings.
- Swimline’s cherry pie slice. Not in Swimline’s own catalogue of 265 products, not in an Amazon search for it by name, and the one pool-shop page that listed it (Pool Central) now answers “Not Found”.
- Every six-foot yard turkey. Thousands of ratings, made for the lawn, and nothing to do with water.

FAQ
Is there a Thanksgiving pool float?
Not one you can buy with an owner record behind it, as of November 2026. We searched Amazon nine ways, Home Depot and Walmart, and the catalogues of eight float makers, Swimline, FUNBOY, Sunnylife, BigMouth, Jasonwell, GoFloats, Aqua Leisure and Poolmaster, and none sells a turkey, pie or Thanksgiving float. The two turkey floats that had appeared on Amazon returned empty listing pages. Searches for a turkey pool float return yard inflatables, turkey-leg props and rubber ducks.
What should I float in the pool for Thanksgiving?
To ride, a plain tube in the season's colours: FUNBOY's 46-inch Vintage Stripe tube in burnt orange or mocha, rated for one adult up to 220 lb, at 4.6★ from 426 ratings. To look at, Archie McPhee's 16-inch vinyl turkey or Beistle's 2 ft drumstick, both party props that float. Take the décor out before anyone swims.
Is the pool too cold to swim at Thanksgiving?
An unheated pool is cold for most people by then, even in Florida. Pool companies in Tampa Bay and Orlando put an unheated pool at about 65 to 72 degrees at Thanksgiving, and one in southwest Florida says the low to upper 70s; those are their estimates, not measurements. The National Weather Service says the gasp from sudden immersion 'can be triggered by water as warm as 77°F (25°C)' and names pools among the cold-water risks. Get in slowly, keep it short, and keep an eye on children.
Can you put an inflatable turkey in the pool?
It will float. Neither maker sells it for the pool: Archie McPhee sells its vinyl turkey as a table centrepiece and an office volleyball, and Beistle sells its turkey leg as a party decoration. Float them when nobody is swimming and take them out before anyone gets in. The CDC's advice covers every one of them: 'Do not rely on air-filled or foam toys, as these are not safety devices.'
Are rubber ducks safe in a pool with a skimmer?
Small ones end up in the skimmer. A skimmer is built to pull floating things off the surface, and the 4E's Thanksgiving ducks on this page are about 2.5 inches each. Float them in a hot tub without a skimmer, in a bath, or on the table, or close the skimmer while they are in the pool.
