The other kind — lounge pools, kiddie pools, and almost every giant “blow-up pool for adults” — comes with an air pump for inflating and nothing that cleans the water, so you drain and refill it. An inflatable pool is either filtered (keep the water) or unfiltered (drain and refill). That single column decides more than size or price, so we split the tables by it. If a listing’s “pump” doesn’t quote a GPH filtration rate, it inflates — it doesn’t clean.

You may have seen the 2025 pool recall headlines. Be precise about what they cover, because it changes nothing about the pools here — but it’s worth knowing:

• What WAS recalled (July 2025, CPSC): metal-FRAME above-ground pools 48 inches and taller with a compression strap around the outside (Bestway, Intex, and Polygroup brands — about 5 million pools, tied to nine child drownings). The strap can act as a foothold for a child to climb in.
• What’s NOT recalled — every pool in this guide: inflatable ring-top and lounge pools have no frame and no compression strap, so they’re outside that recall entirely. Even the 48-inch Intex Easy Set here is an inflatable ring pool, not a framed one.

That said, an inflatable pool is still open water. The real hazard in this category is a toddler reaching an unattended kiddie or lounge pool. Fence or empty it, and never leave a small child near filled water — filtered or not. We verified each pool against CPSC (no active recalls on these models, checked July 2026).

Search “extra large inflatable pool for adults” and you’ll hit a wall of near-identical 145–180-inch listings at $80–160. Reading them, the pattern is unmistakable: it’s one white-label OEM pool re-sold by a dozen faceless sellers — different ASINs sharing identical review counts (two at 4.0★/290, two at 4.0★/184), the fingerprint of a shared or rotated review base. No brand warranties it, the “pump” is for air, and the listings churn as they get relisted. If you want a big cheap pool, buy the branded SELLOTZ (a real, deeper base). If you want water that stays clear, buy a filtered Intex ring. Same money either way, with an actual seller behind it.

How to buy an inflatable pool (the 60-second version)

1. Filter or drain? If you want to keep the water for the season, you need a real FILTER pump — that means an Intex Easy Set, Bestway Fast Set, or Summer Waves Quick Set (look for a GPH rating). If you’re happy to drain and refill, any lounge, kiddie, or oversized pool works and you’ll pay less.
2. Size by who’s using it. Toddlers → Sunset Glow. Adults who want to sit → Swim Center Lounge. A family that wants to actually swim → the 15-foot Easy Set. Kids who want a slide → Rainbow Ring.
3. Match the pump to the water. More gallons need more GPH — the 12-foot Easy Set’s 530 GPH is fine; the 15-foot steps to 1,000 GPH for a reason. An air pump is not a filter.
4. Level ground + a ground cloth. Any ring pool needs dead-level ground or the ring folds and the water shifts; put a tarp or the included cloth under it to protect the vinyl.
5. Under a Florida screen cage? You’re already shaded, so skip paying extra for a canopy pool — and note the cage cuts the sun that would otherwise warm the water, so a dark-lined pool warms faster.
