The honest edge
A carefully managed ionizer can cut your chlorine use, and some owners like that. But it’s a standing staining risk, it still requires chlorine and testing, and it’s unnecessary if you run your numbers. If you’re chasing a “gentler” pool, the softer feel people want comes from steady, correct chlorination (few chloramines) — not from copper. Don’t intentionally add copper through any mechanism, algaecide or ionizer.
