Pros

- A 932°F handle, so it can stay in a steak through the sear
- Wi-Fi on the base plus Sub-1G radio to the probes, the longest-range figure Typhur prints for this class
- Sold by Amazon.com, an authorized channel for Typhur's warranty
Cons
- AmazingRibs' probes lasted "a bit over 30 hours" against Typhur's 50, and owners say the battery drains while it is switched off
- It needs almost 3 inches of meat: "the minum distance for probe insertion is too long for most filets"
- About $200 for two probes, the most of any thermometer on this page
- Critics report a probe that "fell apart" after nine months and a base that disconnects every 15 minutes
Battery and fit. "Battery always drains while turned off", "the minum distance for probe insertion is too long for most filets", a probe that "fell apart" after nine months, "Every 15 minutes or so, the base disconnects from the probes", and an ambient sensor owners must shield in a hot smoker.
