Pros
- The cheapest way into salt (~$210) and the only genuine drop-in — the cell hangs below the waterline and works by convection, so there's no plumbing and no flow switch to install
- Perfect for a hot tub, swim spa, or very small above-ground pool where a full inline SWG is overkill
- Runs at a lower salt level (2,000–2,500 ppm) than inline systems
Cons
- Tiny capacity — rated to ~600 gal spa / ~2,000 gal swim-spa water; this is NOT a system for a real in-ground pool
- Short 1-year warranty versus the multi-year warranties on the inline units
- For an above-ground pool up to ~20,000 gal, step up to the Solaxx Saltron Retro instead
