Pros
- About $154 for a controller that installs on a Weber kettle or Smokey Mountain without tools
- Nothing to pair: a knob and an LED, so nothing in the software can fail mid-cook
- pitmasterIQ gives the blower unit two years
- Sold on Amazon by pitmasterIQ itself
Cons
- AmazingRibs measured ±8°F and an average of 212.7°F at a 225°F knob setting: "other controllers did a better job of temperature regulation"
- No readout and no food probe: you need a separate thermometer to know the actual pit temperature
- Probes carry 30 days of warranty, and owners report probes and blowers dying after about a year
- Owners say support can be hard to reach, and one reports the hose melting in the first hour
Durability and support. "My unit lasted 13 months and then died without a warning", "Temperature probe broke during first use", "Melted within the first hour" (the hose), and "The unit seemed to operate but very slowly in reaching the desired temperature" with no answer from support.
