Polished finish
Also called: polished pool finish, Hydrazzo, PolishedScapes, Primera Stone.
A polished finish is the fourth rung of the pool-finish ladder, above plaster, quartz and exposed pebble. The finish is allowed to cure and is then ground smooth with diamond abrasive discs, and its real argument is that it can be re-polished years later rather than replastered.
Why it matters
Three products own the rung, and they polish three different things: Hydrazzo from CL Industries is polished marble, PolishedScapes from National Pool Tile is marble and glass, and Primera Stone from Wet Edge is polished pebble. The aggregate at the surface is what the water touches, so that is also the durability difference, and natural pebble is the hardest of the three. Every other rung ends its life with a drain and a resurface, so ask any bidder to price the re-polish next to the install. Get the warranty term in writing: CL Industries publishes two different terms on its own live site.
In numbers
Wet Edge publishes 15 years residential on Primera Stone, and National Pool Tile offers 10 years or a Lifetime Limited warranty through an Approved Applicator on PolishedScapes.
