Pros
- Leg straps that grab the pool's own uprights — no jugs, stakes or clips, and on an oval's long side the legs are exactly where the wind gets in
- The exact 21×12 cut, so the finished cover clears the top rail instead of being an 18×33 cut down to a smaller pool
- A maker-tested tear strength (780 N) actually published, where the fabric rivals publish adjectives
Cons
- Its rating is the LISTING's pooled score across rounds, ovals and rectangles, not this cut's, and the round's critical tail is the coating: "melted into the water and left tar-like goo" — check the underside each spring
- Runs small — the round's owners say size up, and UIRWAY's own site does not sell or document an oval at all (the oval exists only on Amazon)
- No warranty term anywhere UIRWAY publishes; a 90-day money-back return policy is the whole safety net
- Stock was thin at the read — Amazon showed "Only 2 left" on 2026-09-05 ("Only 5 left" via /api/po the day before); if it is gone, the 12×24 (B0GDFTYT7V, $99.99) is the next cut up on the same listing
Two failures, and the serious one is the coating. Owners report it degrading into the water: "after only a few weeks over my pool, it essentially melted into the water and left tar-like goo over the sides as well as everything that was in the water"; a second reports sticky black stains on the pool sides. The other is seams — tears, and a seam that "ripped over the winter". A copied tail from the round parent, which shares this listing and its critical page.

✓ Safety: no active recall — Winter/debris cover — NOT a safety cover: holds no weight and carries no ASTM F1346 rating; never let a child or pet onto it. CPSC recall API checked 2026-09-04, re-confirmed 2026-09-05 (saferproducts.gov, ProductName=UIRWAY) → 0 records; class query "pool cover" returns only Endless Pools #25339 (retractable safety cover, 2025) and Anchor Industries #16732 (safety covers, 2016) — both a different product class, opened and confirmed.
