The Pool Robot Battery Index
The battery is a cordless robot's consumable — when it dies, an undocumented battery makes the whole robot the consumable. Roundups say "most are sealed" and stop. This is the actual table: every cordless robot in our showdowns, whether you can replace its battery, and what that does to the real cost of ownership. Of the 19 current models we track,as of 2026, not one is currently sold with a genuine, in-stock replacement battery pack. WYBOT's C1 and S2 come closest — their batteries are user-serviceable and the swap is documented — but WYBOT no longer stocks a genuine replacement pack, so for ownership math we treat them as sealed like the rest. To sidestep the battery clock entirely, buy corded.

How to read this table
Battery status is a three-state call, and we make it conservatively. We only write Replaceable after confirming the maker sells a replacement pack AND documents the swap.Sealed means the maker confirms it isn't user-replaceable. Not stated means no documented pack exists — and for ownership math you should treat that as sealed, because a battery you can't buy is a battery you can't replace.
8-year cost of ownership uses the same model as our battery cost calculator: lithium packs last ~4 years, so over 8 years a sealed (or undocumented) robot is bought twice, while a replaceable-battery robot costs the robot plus one pack. Street prices are as last verified (July 2026); a dash means we don't have a current verified price and won't invent one.
Safety is checked against CPSC recalls. Note: WYBOT's Apr 2026 recall covered the older S1 and Osprey 700 Max — the S2, C1, and B1 in this table are not part of it. We surface recalls honestly wherever they land.
